A mysterious monolith was found in Utah last week. Now another has been discovered in Romania, on a hillside.
A Romanian monolith appeared near an ancient ruin.
The strange silver monolith, about four feet high, was found on Thursday, November 26, in Neamţ county, northeast Romania, near the town of Piatra Neamţ on Mount Doamnei.
The object is just a few meters from the ruins of the ancient Dacian fortress of Petrodava.
which is a well known archaeological site, and the oldest historical monument in Piatra Neamţ, believed to have been destroyed by the Romans during the Emperor Trajan’s campaign.
The monolith is eerily similar to an object recently discovered in the famous red rock desert in the state of Utah, which has caused great prominence around the world.
As for a similar monolith in Romania, the investigation is still ongoing.
Rocsana Josanu, Cultural and Heritage Officer, said: “We have started to investigate the strange looking monolith. It is true that it is not an object of state property, but we still do not know who may be the owner of the monolith located in a protected area of an archaeological site. “
And he added: “Before they can install anything there, they need permission from our institution, which must be approved by the Ministry of Culture.”
Until now, professionals do not know the origin of the objects.
Both monoliths appear to have been deliberately erected, however their origins and purpose remain completely mysterious at this time.
However, the Utah monolith was removed in a rather creepy way, suddenly and without a trace.
The state land office wrote in a statement on Facebook about the case: “We have received credible reports that the illegally installed structure, known as a monolith, has been removed from the state-owned area under the supervision of the Bureau of Land Management ( BLM) as unknown.
He added: “It is not the BLM that has removed the structure that is considered private property. We are also not investigating the possibility of a crime against private property that is being handled by the local sheriff’s office.”
