According to the newspaper the perpetrators were still at the scene and were taken from their car marked with the news portal and then shot.Mexico, with an average of one hundred murders a day, is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for those who work in the press. According to a national defense organization, more than 160 journalists have been killed since 2000.

According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), 12 journalists died violently in Mexico last year. At least eight journalists have been killed in the country this year, and the Commission to Protect Journalists (CPJ) says at least four of them for their work.
