Hiding in the Canary Islands, a Hungarian convicted of hundreds of millions of budget fraud, who was arrested with European cooperation and the help of the local police, writes police.hu.

In March, members of a Szeged criminal organization were sentenced to life in prison by a city court for budget fraud. According to the ruling, the members of the organization caused a total of 892 million HUF in financial disadvantage. One of them, Zoltán J., who was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months, fled from prison abroad, for which a European arrest warrant was issued against him.

The prints led to the Canary Islands, so the Hungarian police, in collaboration with the Spanish authorities, arrested Zoltán J. on 18 September in Tenerife, who is awaiting extradition to be transported to Hungary. (Police.hu)
