The amendment to the Labor Code, which would regulate home work and telework, will be presented soon to parliament, the pro-government Hungarian Nation reported. It appears that the leaders of employers ‘and workers’ organizations generally agree with the text, so it is very likely that the rule will still pass through parliament. The main points:
-
The workplace depends on what the employer and employee agree on. This therefore means that the employer cannot force the employee to continuously work from home. Employees can also request a home office at the same time.
- It will be up to both parties to decide which days the employee can stay home and work from there.
- If desired, the employer can give the employee a flat rate. This would be tax-free, which is equal to one-tenth of the minimum wage per month, so now HUF 16,100 per month.
- You could pay gas, electricity, water, and internet rates out of overhead.
-
the employer must provide the tools, in the case of phones, smart devices, laptops or work outside the office, parts and equipment, that are essential for the safe performance of tasks. Employers should also be responsible for the use of equipment and safe working conditions in the home.
- The employer can control the work, but only through digital devices if the subordinate does not use his own devices.
What is currently being debated between employers ‘and workers’ organizations is the issue of accidents at work. When working from home, who is responsible if an employee has an accident?
