A fire broke out in the Covid ward of Hatvan Hospital.

There was a fire in the Covid ward of the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Hatvan on Sunday morning and no one was injured in the accident. Krisztina Zelnik, the press officer of the institution told the MTI that the patients infected by coronavirus had been transferred to another part of the hospital reserved for this purpose.

Disaster management had previously reported that a room had caught fire on the first floor of one of the wings of a building at Hatvan Hospital. The furniture was burned and the fire spread to the store under the pavilion window. Three rooms were evacuated during the works.

The part of the building reserved for coronavirus patients originated in one of the rooms. Workers had to evacuate a 28-bed non-intensive Covid-19 supply unit.

He said the building’s ventilation and primary remediation are still ongoing, what has happened will not cause a lasting disruption in patient care and hospital operation.

Following the alarm, 22 firefighters arrived at the scene with seven vehicles from Hatvan, Gyöngyös and Aszód, and the flames stopped in no time. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
