The Veszprém District Prosecutor’s Office filed charges against the man who interfered with the work of the hospital staff with his threats and forced them to comply with his instructions.

The father of the 47-year-old offender was cared for at one of Veszprém County hospitals from fall 2017 to February last year. The man regularly visited his father, but did not follow the rules of the health institution. He regularly interfered with the nurses’ work and threatened to fire them to spend disproportionately more time caring for his father than the other patients. The sisters, aware that he was an influential man, feared him.

On one occasion, the man ordered the nurse to deliver lunch so that he immediately stopped working and changed his father’s sheet. The nurse said in vain that she was busy, the man ordered the previously threatened nurse to change her bedding, who, for fear of losing her job, complied with her call. After the task required the help of another staff member, the patients’ lunch stopped entirely.

On other occasions, the man instructed a classroom nurse to take immediate care of his father, who was only dealing with a sick patient. The nurse asked for patience in vain, the author urged her to leave immediately, and the nurse left the other patient for fear of losing his job. In December 2018, the man ordered the nightly nurse in charge of drug distribution to immediately go to her father and take care of her. Because the man had threatened to lose his job several times before, the nurse did not dare to contradict and quit her job and complied with the call.

The man’s father was to be transferred from the former active ward to the chronic ward in the fall of 2018, before the man was deterred from threatening the hospital director and said that if something happened to his father, it would have unpredictable consequences, making it impossible his work. In the end there was no transfer, but the patient’s room was transformed into a chronic room.

The prosecution charged the man with a crime of violence against a person performing four public functions and filed a motion to impose a fine on the Veszprém District Court.
