Emmanuel Macron has ordered strict closures in France for the third time after the number of people infected with the coronavirus has skyrocketed and this threatens to overload his hospitals.

Starting April 3, for four weeks, all schools and stores that sell non-essential items will close again and a curfew will be established from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. In addition, people can only travel more than 10 kilometers from your place of residence for overriding reasons.

On Friday, 145 covid patients were admitted to the intensive care unit, the biggest jump in five months. In France, there are now around 5,000 coronavirus infections treated in intensive care units. On Friday, 46,677 new cases were registered and 304 died.

In the EU, a strict lockdown was introduced in Italy, but only for three days, during Easter, to prevent the spread of the infection. (BBC)
