Maria Van Kerkhove, an expert with the World Health Organization (WHO), warned Thursday that Brazil faces an extremely serious epidemiological situation. The epidemic is in crisis in several Brazilian states and hospitals are overcrowded.

According to Van Kerkhove, the saturation of various health institutions already exceeds 90 percent.

Brazil, where a much more contagious variant of the coronavirus is spreading than before, has become one of the epicenters of the pandemic in the world.
