Coronavirus: 242 dead, 8637 new infected

There have been 8,637 new coronavirus infections, increasing the number of infected people identified to a total of 679,413 since the beginning of the epidemic, writes the government website koronavirus.gov.hu.

Most of the deaths were in 242 elderly and chronically ill patients, bringing the number of deaths to 21,504. The number of deaths has been on a somewhat downward trend in recent days.

The number of people recovered is currently 415,601, but the number of actively infected people has already risen to 242,308.

11,383 coronavirus patients are hospitalized. That’s 364 patients less than a day before.

Of those hospitalized, 1,437 are connected to a ventilator. It also declined, with 30 people less in need of ventilation than a day earlier.

The number of vaccinated was 2,235,731, of which 891,002 had already received their second vaccination. Yesterday 79,000 first vaccines were administered.

As they write, the vaccination program is scheduled, with Hungary ranking second in the EU vaccination ranking. Due to their vulnerability, registered seniors are still online for vaccination, 83% of those over 65 registered so far have already received the vaccine. The vaccination will continue during the Easter holidays.
