Not knowing what to do with his car running, the young driver left him next to the burning reeds.

A fire broke out on the outskirts of Tököl, and when firefighters and police tried to find out what caused the fire, they came up with an explanation that surprised even them.

It turned out that a car was traveling on the dirt road just as the front of his car, probably due to an electrical fault, caught fire.

The driver got out of his car, took out some sodas and poured them into his car, but that wasn’t enough to put out the fire. He had no better idea so he just left the vehicle alone. The car was burned in its entirety, but in addition, the fire spread to 3,500 square feet of the area. Some of the nearby reeds were burned, vegetation was damaged and tree trunks were burned, the police website said.

The 22-year-old pumpkin driver was arrested and questioned as a suspect. Told the police

He had no idea how much damage he could do if he let his burning car go wild.

A criminal proceeding was initiated against him at the Szigetszentmiklós Police Station for well-founded suspicion of the crime of environmental damage.
