South Korean health officials said Monday they found no causal link between the drug company AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine and the deaths of the eight people vaccinated with it.

All eight people had some underlying disease and the vaccine had a detrimental effect on their bodies, but they found no evidence that the vaccine caused their deaths.

Said the Director of the Office of Epidemiology and Disease Prevention in his press conference.

The most recent death after vaccination was in Austria, where a nurse died from complications of blood clotting after receiving a British-Swedish preparation. As a result, the health office suspended vaccination of the affected shipment of AstraZeneca, of which 37,000 doses have already been used. The Austrian authorities have also not established a causal link between vaccination and death, and there is no question of revoking the authorization of AstraZeneca.

Mass vaccination against the coronavirus began in South Korea a week and a half ago, beginning with AstraZeneca, MTI reported. Seoul will not suspend vaccination with the Swedish-British company due to the deaths.
