The Orbán government ordered a complete shutdown. On Thursday, Gergely Gulyás announced on Government Info that schools and kindergartens will be closed from March 8 to April 7, and stores will not be open for two weeks. From March 8 to March 22, all services will be suspended, but private health care will be available. The series of measures was justified by protection against the third wave of the coronavirus epidemic.

The fit is still unclear on several points. The detailed rules also revealed yesterday that banks and tobacco shops could remain open and, unlike before, casinos would have to close.

The Index was informed that Viktor Orbán was preparing for further announcements in the traditional radio interview on Friday morning, after which more details of the regulation would appear in the Hungarian Gazette. So, the prime minister can be heard on Kossuth Radio starting at 7:30 am, but by midweek in the morning he had already posted a short Facebook post about attending the operational tribe’s meeting on Friday.
