Just a year ago we announced the positive case of the two Iranian students, which started the coronavirus epidemic in Hungary, Cecília Müller said at the press conference of the operation on Thursday. The national medical director emphasized that two or three weeks after vaccination, someone will be protected, an adjustment is needed.

Unfortunately, this is the case now, which means that the epidemiological data is extremely high. The third wave was announced on February 18 and the number of hospitalized patients has increased by 2,533 since then. The currently spreading variants are much more contagious and infect many more people. The current reproduction rate is 1.3 and it is growing steadily.

Cecília Müller said. He said this means that because the number is greater than one, the number of new infections will increase exponentially. Relaxation is only expected if this number falls below one again.

Cecília Müller said that the two protection methods must run in parallel, urgently: the number of contacts must be reduced and vaccinated. The medical director reported that new shipments of vaccines arrived in Hungary today: 105,000 doses of AstraZeneca and 280,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine.

During the weekend, we expect more than 70,000 people to be vaccinated at the vaccination points of the hospitals. This great campaign is carried out on Saturdays and Sundays, those involved will receive an SMS today with the time and place of the vaccination. No response is required, please show up at the indicated time and place, no change is possible now

The medical director stressed, adding that the SMS comes from Vaccine Info. Cecília Müller said that the vaccination will be carried out in 101 hospitals, more than 438 vaccination points and it is planned to vaccinate 12 people per hour. As he said, if everyone arrives on time and prepares all the paperwork, there will be no congestion.

I ask for cooperation, understanding and extreme discipline. I ask everyone to come forward for vaccination, we will increase the number of protected people and I ask you to be patient with the measures that we have had to endure for a long time. However, we see how we can get rid of the epidemic with these measures taken in time.

Cecília Müller said.

It reported that as of Thursday, 6,278 new infections had been registered, bringing the total number of infections identified to 446,178 since the start of the epidemic.
