Earlier, attorneys for the former US president raised the issue that the impeachment was unconstitutional.

The Senate of the United States Congress voted 56:44 Tuesday night that the impeachment of former President Donald Trump is not unconstitutional.

The vote was necessary because it occurred to Trump’s lawyers that the constitution does not allow impeachment proceedings against a president who is no longer in office. The vote was preceded by hours of debate on the constitutional question.
