Dear Contractor! Dear reader! The Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry informs you and cordially invites you to the MKIK Economic Opening 2021, which will be held online in the face of the pandemic situation.Date: Thursday, February 4, 2021, 10:00 am

This is how the invitation to the event sounds, it does not indicate the exact topic of the conferences. Last week, Viktor Orbán noted that a HUF 6 billion stimulus package was ready for implementation, and yesterday László Parragh hinted that helping those working in the hotel industry had already been decided. Based on this, it’s conceivable that big announcements will be made tomorrow.

What’s interesting about the event is that György Matolcsy, who has been a regular speaker at the Inauguration of the Economic Year in recent years, is not among the speakers. On Monday, the MNB governor stood out in a particularly critical writing, in which he harshly criticized economic policy.

Based on the cautious indications so far, we can conclude that some of the new measures are aimed at hosting providers and catering operators. In principle, it could not be ruled out that the number of beneficiaries would expand, since there are many micro and small businesses in the country that had to be suspended but still have to pay rent, kata, kiwi (and possibly employee benefits). while there are no sales. However, decision makers have not made such a reference in recent weeks, so it seems more likely that they will forget even now. As the amount of 6,000 trillion greatly exceeds the margin of maneuver of the budget, it can be concluded that most of the package will be on some type of credit line (new or existing expansion, change).

It should also be noted that today an economic measure has been reached, since a government decree has been issued that as of February 3, the government will pay the required wage subsidy to catering companies in a single amount. However, this isn’t really a real discount, as the apps run until the end of February and the government is way behind on payments. In other words, the regulation only provides an opportunity for catering service providers to finally get what they should have received long ago.
