The Hungarian government has asked the South Asian country for a 5,000 Oxford-AstraZeneca licensed coronavirus vaccine, which would be enough to vaccinate 2,500 people. Foreign Secretary Shahriar Alam also told a Bangladeshi parliament meeting that they would comply with Hungary’s request.
Hungary’s Foreign Ministry confirmed to Blikk that 5,000 vaccines could come from the country, but it was written that the vaccine was offered by Bangladesh in gratitude for the Hungarian surgery led by neurosurgeon András Csókay and plastic surgeon Gergely Pataki and rabbi .
By the way, Bangladesh has to offer vaccines to the Hungarian government, as five million Oxford-licensed vaccines have already arrived in the country and have a contract for another 25 million.
The Indian Serum Institute is licensed to produce 1 billion Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines for distribution in very or moderately poor countries in the region. Of these, the 5,000 vaccines could be shipped to Hungary.
Bangladesh pays the Indian plant $ 4 (1,180 guilders) for a vaccine.
