Coronavirus: the Hungarian data for Wednesday has arrived

Recent data overall shows little additional relief from the coronavirus epidemic. Although the 1,004 new infections were higher than the previous two days (mostly weekend cases), they remained below the one-week average.

In general, the trend line appears to have stopped the substantial slowdown observed in the first half of January in recent days. We see a similar picture in the evolution of the number of more serious cases: the downward trend has not been broken, but the latest data already reflects a situation close to stagnation. 3809 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, 255 of whom are on ventilators. Of course, based on all of this, it would be premature to say whether the recession of the epidemic has really stopped or if we will only see a decline again after a brief high.

For now, we do not see a brake on the trend of the deceased. Since Christmas, the number of daily victims has slowly and gradually decreased from around 120 levels to around 80 levels. If the observed stagnation in the number of infectious and serious cases persists, we must also hope that the decline in the number of deaths may stall.

New infections are registered with an approximately stable (and relatively low) positivity rate, confirming that the epidemic may be quite stagnant in the country.

More details coming soon.
