Instead of the traditional daylight saving time, the Petőfi Music Awards were presented for the fifth time on January 23 on the two-hour Duna TV program, which included Reni Orsovai and Gergő Rácz, Tamás Molnár, Ferenc Demjén, Magdi Rúzsa and Norbi Bagossy. The sculptures that shape Sándor Petőfi were awarded the best of Hungarian light music in 12 categories. The Bagossy Brothers Company closed the evening with three awards, and this year Charlie Horváth received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The special awards ceremony smuggled the festival atmosphere to the audience, and many artists colored the night with their unique productions.

The nominees are given by Petőfi Rádió’s one-year playlist, the public could vote for them in the spring of 2020, but due to the epidemic situation, the awards could not be awarded in the usual way. Some of the 12 awards have been made public since last year:

Last year it turned out that Tamás Molnár became the composer of the year, he could also receive the award tonight. After that, Károly Frenreisz, Attila Pataky and Charlie stood together on the stage of the Petőfi Music Prize, who made an unforgettable production, the song Wait for the Sun to Rise was performed.

As we wrote, several awards were presented on the Song 2020 program last year, Tortuga became the winner of the year, which of course was also discussed at the awards ceremony.

Also last year, it was revealed that the winners of The Song received recognition for the song of the year, this was also appreciated, they were also in the studio. Gergő Rácz and Reni Orsovai will now perform acoustically, and are confident that the public will soon be able to see them live.

Gyula Deák Bill, Ferenc Demjén, János Karácsony and Barna Pély y No Sugar were nominated for the Acoustic Concert of the Year award. This year Charlie Horváth received the Petőfi statue for his work.
