In the Marche region of central Italy, 145 nursing home residents were vaccinated, while 1834 were fully vaccinated against outsiders. A man from Sicily reported that a doctor at a nearby hospital had told him that he could get vaccinated out of shift. Among other things, this may explain why some areas have run out of vaccines earlier than estimated.
The first shipment of 47,000 servings of American Moderna also arrived in Italy on Tuesday, crossed the border through the Brenner Pass and was then taken to the Spallazani Epidemic Hospital in Rome for distribution.
