In October last year, we wrote about Zoltán Ceglédi, a political analyst and humorist, who works as an advisor to Anna Donáth, a temporary member of the European Parliament.
Ceglédi now writes on his website that his employment contract has expired, so from 2021 he will no longer help the opposition MEP with communication advice.
Last year, as an employee of the momentary politician from the liberal faction Renovar, Cegléd received a gross monthly salary of HUF 865,000. The political analyst was also criticized by many in the press and social media at the time for failing to announce to the public that he was working for an opposition MP while forming opinions on various analytical shows about public figures at work.
However, Cegléd’s employment with Anna Donáth was not a secret until then, as the website of the current MEP
public information previously available.
The opposition politician then responded to the Index’s request by asking the political analyst to work because of his more than a decade of experience and professional quality.
Ceglédi wrote in his farewell post:
Looking back at the year of the coronavirus, it is difficult and controversial to talk about successes, but overall I think that the joint work has been fruitful.
In his article written on the political analyst’s website, he praised the momentary politician, calling Donát one of the most important Hungarian politicians.
However, Ceglédi realized that he could not be an analyst and a political advisor at the same time. He wrote about this recognition:
It is not a clear failure, but the realization that I cannot be a driver and a coach at the same time.
Finally he said goodbye to the momentary politician:
Anna Donáth will continue to do an excellent job as a Member of the European Parliament for the next four years, even without me. If you do what you have done so far, my confidence in 2024 is also yours. Hello Anna, come on Anna!
