On Friday, the Serbian section of the Turkish current, the Balkan current, opened near Zsablya in Vojvodina, Boldogasszonyfalva. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also participated in the event, highlighting:

Balkan Stream will ensure the stability and energy security of the country and will make Serbia even more attractive to investors.

According to Dusan Bajatovic, Director of Gas Works in Serbia, state-of-the-art equipment has been installed in the pipeline, which can also deliver natural gas to Hungary to European Union (EU) countries.

This means that Europe will also need the gas that passes through this pipeline.

According to the MTI report, the pipeline supplies the country with gas from three nodes, Paracin in central Serbia and Pančevo and Our Lady of Vojvodina.

The pipeline passes through Bulgaria and transports Russian natural gas through Serbia to Hungary.

The length of the main gas pipeline in Serbia is 403 kilometers, reaching Serbia near Zajecar and continuing to Hungary at Horgos. The entire pipeline is 930 kilometers long and has a capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters per year.
