Twelve were injured in the accident.

The Eger District Prosecutor’s Office indicted a bus driver who caused an accident involving a dozen people injured due to the negligent cause of a traffic accident that resulted in a massive accident, the prosecutor’s office said Thursday.

On November 24, 2018, the accused traveled from Kékestető to Mátraháza in the bus he was driving with 39 passengers. However, on sloping, winding and wet roads, the bus did not use the bus’s hydraulic retarder system, only the service brake operated with the brake pedal, as a result of which the service brake system on the slope was damaged , the brake drums and brake shoes burned out, so the brake pedal did not stop.

This was noticed by the defendant when he reached the 1400 stretch of the road at a speed of 65-70 km / h and the retarder was activated, and then, when approaching a sharp curve to the right that he could not take, – to avoid an accident major – deliberately steered the vehicle to the right and then collided with a tree by the side of the road, thus managing to stop the bus. In the accident, two suffered a serious injury that healed more than eight days, while ten suffered a minor injury that healed in eight days.

The accident occurred because the accused violated the TRAFFIC provision that establishes that the vehicle must be driven in such a way that it does not endanger the safety of people and property. If the driver had used the vehicle’s permanent braking system correctly, a failure of the service brake would have been prevented, so the accident would not have occurred.

In its indictment filed with the Gyöngyös District Court, the Eger District Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion to impose a custodial sentence and an off-road driving ban on a man accused of negligence causing a traffic accident that resulted in a massive accident. The prosecution also asked the court to order the defendant to pay the criminal costs of 700,066 HUF incurred during the process.
