The mother had digested herself by what had happened for many decades and did her best to find her young son, who had disappeared in 1988. Mao Yin was two years old when he and his father, Mao Chen-zing, they were coming home from kindergarten in Xi’an, Shenyang province. They stopped in front of one of the hotels because the boy was thirsty, but the father paid him no attention for a moment. His mother Li quit her job after the incident and did her best to find her missing young son. He has distributed hundreds of thousands of brochures with portraits of the boy over the decades and has chronicled his tragedy on countless television shows. In 2007, she joined a foundation to help locate the missing children of other parents, including her own.

The mother managed to reunite 29 children with her family, and in 2020 her bloodied son was located by the authorities. Based on a childhood photo of the missing boy, they used a facial recognition program to create what he would look like after thirty years.

Police learned that in the 1980s, a barren man and wife living in Sichuan province bought a child from the traffickers, later for 6,000 yuan, which translates to approximately $ 300,000. Thanks to the facial recognition program and the earpiece they received, they reached a man who, after a DNA test, turned out to be the missing son of Li Jingzhi and her husband. The 32-year-old is named Gu Ningning after his adoptive parents and runs a home decoration business.

The meeting took place after thirty years. Several television companies have recorded that the 32-year-old man and his mother fell on their necks crying.

Kidnapping and trafficking of children remain a big problem in China. 20,000 minors are kidnapped every year, mostly guys, and barely a tenth of them come out.
