One of the most famous French fashion designers in the world was 98 years old.

Italian-born French fashion designer Pierre Cardin, a leading figure in post-war fashion, died in a hospital in Neully on Tuesday at the age of 98, he writes The world.

Pierre Cardin was born not far from Treviso on July 2, 1922 as Pietro Cardini. His parents had already fled fascism to France at the age of two. From the age of fourteen, he learned the basics of the fashion industry as an assistant in a fabric factory, and then, in 1939, in Vichy, he began to manufacture women’s clothing. He worked for the Red Cross during World War II; his humanitarian commitment lasted until his death.

He moved to Paris in 1945, worked with fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, then joined Christian Dior and finally founded his own fashion house in 1950. In 1953 he started haute couture, which means making exclusive fashion items from the highest quality and price. His works were characterized by a passion for geometric shapes.

His name is associated with the development of the now widespread practice, according to which the name or logo of fashion houses appears in a visible place on clothing. He also started the “mod chic” trend, in which he mixed ways of dressing that nobody had before (such as the very short with the very long).

He was very inspired by their work in space and space exploration, so much so that he not only visited NASA, but also planned them in 1970.

Over time, the Pierre Cardin brand began to deal with products other than clothing, from furniture to perfumes and cosmetics, and it was also part of industrial design, dealing a lot with car interior design.

He was also familiar with the film industry; He was also the costume designer for Jean Cocteau’s 1946 film The Beautiful and the Monster, and was responsible for the costumes for Jeanne Moreau in the Orson Welles film Immortal Story.

In addition to his own fashion house, he also owned hundreds of businesses, employing a total of hundreds of thousands of people. It also had theaters, restaurants, media interests and castles, such as the old castle of the Marquis Sade.

He has been a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador since 1991.
