Not all the side effects that seem to be

  • Gergely Christmas no longer believes in numbers.
  • Still, they were truly bizarre over the holidays, with daily deaths dropping by a third after the epidemic’s deadliest week.
  • The long-awaited vaccination has arrived in Hungary, and János Szlávik has already vaccinated his colleagues with it on Saturday.
  • No side effects have been reported in Hungary. If they experienced it, it may not be so. As the world has experienced, they certainly are not.

114

On the last Sunday of the year, according to aggregate data from the operational tribe, there were 114 deaths in the epidemic. The total number of fatalities topped 9,000 on Sunday, yet the epidemic appears to have rested over the holidays, at least according to official figures. Based on them, Christmas was a special week, at least it is difficult to draw conclusions from the fact that the number of deaths has suddenly dropped by a third after the epidemic week of the epidemic so far.

Mayor Gergely Karácsony already has reservations about the official data. On the one hand, according to him, he has probably had many more deaths so far, and on the other hand, he complains about the quality of the data provision and the lack of important spatial data in defense.

The news of the weekend was not now the evolution of the number of infected and victims, but the launch of the European vaccination program. In EU member states, vaccination would have started uniformly on Sunday, but was preceded by some member states, including Hungary. János Szlávik, the chief infectologist at South Pest Central Hospital, was the first person in Hungary to administer his first injection to a colleague.

Ten other European countries have also started vaccinating health professionals. The French, Germans and Spanish, on the other hand, took care of those over 65.

Although allergic reactions have been reported in other countries, according to Béla Merkely, rector of Semmelweis University, the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine has not even caused flushing in Hungary so far. By the way, side effects. Not everything is what it seems! According to a great article in Stat News, people get sick surprisingly often, sometimes immediately after being vaccinated. Even the two things are not necessarily related to this. Just as the most frequent heart attacks in the morning are not related to breakfast eaten at that time.

The biggest difficulty with the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine is storage, as it can be shipped at -70 degrees. Pfizer has also developed special shipping containers for it. These special containers were packed separately on refrigerated trucks in Hungary.

The government is also open to other agents. According to information from the Minister of Human Resources Miklós Kásler, soon three thousand people will be able to test the Russian vaccine in Hungary, with which Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin would also be vaccinated.

It will be long

The launch of the vaccination program is great news. The results of clinical trials so far with all newly developed vaccines are encouraging, so there is hope to curb the epidemic. This, of course, also depends on the willingness to vaccinate, which varies. Only 40% in Poland and 79% in Great Britain. A 60% rate should be achieved for herd immunity, including those who have already been infected. According to Ferenc Falus, everyone in Hungary can get vaccinated at the end of the summer.

Until then, however, we have a difficult period ahead of us, as evidenced by the fact that in China, where the first wave has been held back by drastic restrictions, tipping points are beginning to form again. Even more worrying is that in Africa, which has survived the first wave of the epidemic relatively well, the second wave could wreak much more havoc. I mean, the world public seems to be aware of this, that we haven’t gotten over it. Even in Hungary, most think that 2021 will be better, but they are less confident in the recovery of the economy.
