Germany is now also restricting local border traffic due to the epidemic, which until now has been one of the exceptions. German shopping tourists do not applaud the decision.

Germany has changed the restrictions imposed so far due to the coronavirus epidemic, as the pathogen firmly destroys the country in defiance of previous measures. Among other things, travelers traveling from Berlin to Poland for just a maximum of 24 hours will now have to complete a ten-day quarantine upon returning home. This measure ends shopping tourism, writes onet.pl.

Local border traffic had previously been restricted by the Polish and Brandenburg provincial authorities and they criticized Berlin leaders for not joining them. Finally, the provincial government forced the municipality of the capital to take over the strict restrictions.

At the same time, the Berlin Senate argued that nothing needs to be done because Berlin’s regulations on inspection clearly say that people can leave their homes for good reasons, but getting firecrackers is not one of them. So anyone who has run to the shops on the other side near the Polish border for this reason has already broken the rules.

Besides the Polish-German border, there are markets in various places where Germans have so far bought alcohol, cigarettes, and fireworks, for example. Some of them are prohibited from being sold in Germany.
