Ferenc Kumin, the Hungarian ambassador to London, wrote on the community page that the British authorities had notified them that Manston airport had been evacuated. They then spoke to truckers who were stranded there earlier in the week and whose phone numbers the shipping companies have meanwhile sent to the embassy.

They all picked up the phone in France and confirmed that they had already left the temporary parking lot overnight.

However, along the closed section of the M20 motorway, many were still waiting to cross this morning. With the introduction of the police, the ambassador entered this area and there were still Hungarians here, but fortunately not many more.

Most already had a negative test, ready to cross. When they were there, the soldiers were doing the tests, so they didn’t stop the trucks either.

Those waiting there said that they were well supplied with food, water and that they just wanted to go. At the same time, they were very grateful for the help of the local Hungarian civilian volunteers.

According to posts on the ambassador’s Facebook page, not all the truckers thought the situation was resolved so well, several people criticized the slow response of the Hungarian diplomatic mission to the truck stop earlier in the week.
