Disaster management delivered the coronavirus vaccine from South Pest Central Hospital to other vaccination points in Budapest and the countryside. The vaccine, made in Puurs, Belgium, the first in Europe to be approved, crossed the border at dawn at Hegyeshalom in the western part of the country, but also reached the eastern parts of the country on Saturday.

The first shipment in Hungary

  • Contains 9750 doses of vaccine,
  • that allows the vaccination of 4875 health workers.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was first brought to South Pest Central Hospital, from where it was

  • to the National Institute of Early Pulmonology,
  • to the Semmelweis University Clinic,
  • to the Jósa András de Nyíregyháza University Hospital
  • and was transferred to Gyula Kenézy University Hospital of the University of Debrecen.

There are about 6,000 health workers in Debrecen, a third of whom, or 2,000, have decided to get vaccinated.

A total of 35,000 people are vaccinated in the Hajdú-Bihar county town, of course in the order of priority established by the government.

In Nyíregyháza, a similar proportion of health workers requested the vaccine. According to Zita Szondi, CEO of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Hospital, vaccination will begin here at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
