However, the good news is that the number of hospital admissions is declining.

Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. At the time of the decision, 5,000 new infections had been identified per day and the number of deaths from the virus was mostly between 50 and 100 in 24 hours. The first step is a partial closure, but how effective it is is questionable. Follow our news!

In Romania, the number of deaths attributed to the coronavirus epidemic surpassed 15,000 on Friday, while the number of hospitalized infections fell to less than 10,000 for the first time since mid-October.

Friday’s report from the Strategic Communications Tribe (GCS) also confirmed a decrease in the infection rate in Romania: 3,812 new cases were diagnosed in the last day. This is 75 percent of the average of the last two weeks, and 111 more deaths are 80 percent of the average of the recent period.

The number of known active infections has fallen from a high of 120,000 on November 27 to 67,000, but the pressure on the healthcare system is easing more slowly: from 13,000 at that time, the number of hospitalized cases has dropped below 10,000. to severe cases treated in intensive care. and it practically does not decrease, it has been stagnant for a month above 1,200, so almost all the available seats are still occupied.

In Romania, the authorities did not tighten or ease epidemiological precautions during the holidays. On Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the curfew remains between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., so instead of the missed midnight liturgies, ceremonies to celebrate the birth of Jesus were held in churches from Thursday through the night.
