Macron has recovered from the coronavirus and is no longer in quarantine

Already asymptomatic French President Emmanuel Macron, whose coronavirus test came back positive on December 17, is ending his medical isolation, the Elysee Palace said on Thursday.

The head of state was quarantined last Thursday at the official presidential residence of La Lanterne, near Versailles.

Presumably, Macron was infected at last week’s summit of European heads of state and government in Brussels, where he spent about twenty hours negotiating.

Due to the announcement of his illness, several political leaders, including Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa, have entered into voluntary quarantine.

Macron was plagued by a cough, fever and body aches.

It has not been revealed whether the head of state has already returned to Paris, the Elysee Palace, or where he plans to spend the Christmas holidays.

The coronavirus epidemic continues to spread rapidly in France, with authorities registering between 12 and 18,000 cases a day in recent days, and many experts fear these numbers will rise further after the year-end holidays.
