British model Stella Tennant, who celebrated her 50th birthday on December 17, unexpectedly passed away on December 22. Scottish police said no suspicious circumstances were found in connection with Tennant’s death.

The model is in mourning for the entire world of fashion. Donatella wrote on the Versace Instagram page that she will remember every minute she spent with Tennant, and Edward Enninful, the editor of British Vogue, called the fashion icon a “wonderful kind man” in her memory.

Tennant was a ’90s supermodel along with Kate Moss and Erin O’Connor. Known for her short hairstyle and androgynous physique, the model broke into the fashion industry in 1993, when the first series of photos appeared in the UK edition of Vogue magazine.

Over the years, Tennant has become a popular model and even a muse for fashion designers such as Alexander McQueen, Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquière, Riccardo Tisci or Victoria Beckham. She starred in campaigns for Calvin Kelin and Hermes, and Paul Lagerfeld chose her as the face of the Chanel brand and signed an exclusive contract with her because she reminded Tennant of fashion designer Coco Chanel.

Stella Tennant last appeared on the cover of British Vogue fashion magazine in 2018, and the photo was taken by the same photographer Steven Meisel who discovered her at the time and also made her first series in 1993. (Guardian)
