Neither he nor members of his family will be responsible for any crime. On Tuesday, he sanctified the new law on the matter himself.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on Tuesday under which he will go unpunished for the rest of his life, writes The Guardian. The law, of course, is not about him by name, but about everything related to the former Russian president.

In Russia, presidents have so far been exempted from criminal prosecution, but this only applies to crimes that may have been committed during their tenure, and immunity could be waived in cases of treason or other serious crimes justified by the courts.

However, under the new rule, all former Russian presidents, along with their families, will be exempt from acts committed throughout their lives. They cannot even be summoned for questioning and, of course, they cannot be searched or detained.

The legislation is among new amendments to the law and the constitution that will allow Putin to remain president until 2036. The proposals have led to rumors that the Russian president’s health may have deteriorated and that laws are already being prepared for his quiet retirement. However, this was denied by the Kremlin.

Putin and his entire family could receive an exemption for the rest of their lives.
