Several violations were revealed at the Kemenes-Food Kft. Factory, which produces dairy products, in Vas county, where inspectors from the National Office for Food Chain Safety (Nébih) were inspected in early December, reported the office to the MTI.
Specialists have also found several unlabeled, untraceable and expired raw materials at the plant, and a batch of finished product has expired. The quantities in question exceeded 700 kilograms, which Nébih withdrew from the market with immediate effect, or prohibited its marketing and ordered its closure.
In the case of food of animal origin, the authority also demanded destruction.
The experts also sampled five products (milk, sour cream, buttercream, two types of bulk cheese), all of which were found to be in non-compliance. The measurements showed the presence of foreign water in the case of milk, palm oil in the case of sour cream and two types of bulk cheeses, which, since they are not allowed ingredients, are also considered counterfeit products by the legislation. The buttercream and sour cream had a lower fat content than required, and the fat content of the two types of bulk cheese was not adequate.
Based on the results of the laboratory tests, the Nébih inspectors carried out another on-site inspection at the plant. The products that were found to be non-compliant during the investigation were immediately withdrawn from the market by the experts, their marketing was prohibited and their withdrawal from the market was ordered. The offending food found at the scene was placed under an official seal. In the case of expired and untraceable items, the company has already fulfilled its obligation to destroy, under official supervision.
Procedures and fines are pending in the case, Nébih said.
