The Military Council of the Metropolitan Sentencing Chamber confirmed the partial ruling of the Metropolitan Court in a non-public criminal proceeding against László Vizoviczki and others for accepting bribes and other crimes with less legal clarification, ATV reported.

The suspects were acquitted in 2017, but at the request of the victim’s mother, the Metropolitan Sentencing Board ordered a new trial.
The court sentenced Vizoviczki to seven years in prison and seven years disqualification from public service for various official bribes in a criminal organization and misuse of top-secret, secret and confidential data on the condition that he was not released on parole. According to the indictment, the owner of Shipyard Island and the downtown entertainment venues, a former dominant nightlife figure, bribed high-ranking police officers in 2005, among others. Proceedings were initiated against 22 defendants of the criminal organization for official bribery and other crimes committed by a senior official in breach of his duty and for commercial purposes. Among the defendants are seven former police officers, including five top executives, a former firefighter captain, a lieutenant-chief of the National Tax and Customs Administration, a municipal official and a public health inspector.
