President János Áder appealed to the Constitutional Court on the reform of the waste management law approved by the National Assembly the previous week, the Presidency of the Republic informed the MTI on Monday.
In his motion, available on the website of his office, the head of state states that although many provisions of the law represent a particularly positive change, he is concerned about various points of view from a constitutional point of view.
János Áder considers unconstitutional that the bill deprives him of ownership of industrial production and waste without being granted any compensation. It is also contrary to the Basic Law for concessionaire companies to obtain a unilateral domain through an amendment to the law.
The President of the Republic also complained that the new legislation did not provide sufficient guarantees in the event that a concessionary company ceased to operate, which, in his opinion, could endanger the constitutional right of citizens to a healthy environment. .
In late November, it was revealed that under ITM’s leadership, the government was preparing to nationalize all waste management, and then the rights would be transferred as a concession to a single company.
