The leaders of the General Directorate of the National Hospital should work with the Prime Minister, the head of operational staff and the Minister in charge of professional management at the same time, he stressed. At the appointment ceremony, Bertalan Havasi, Undersecretary of State in charge of the Prime Minister’s Press Office, recalled that on November 17 the government decided by decree to establish the National General Directorate of Hospitals. The General Directorate is a central budgetary body under the direction of the Minister of Health, headed by the General Director of the National Hospital. According to the law, the General Directorate of the National Hospital is administered by the chief of the operational staff, that is, the Minister of the Interior, during the emergency, he explained. The Director General of the National Hospital is appointed and removed by the Prime Minister.
The General Director of the National Hospital performs tasks related to the maintenance of public health institutions and exercises systemic and institutional management rights over all elements of the institutional health system. This right is complemented by strong employer rights, said Bertalan Havasi. He added that among the other tasks of the Director General, it is worth highlighting the management of the State Sanitary Reserve now, at the time of the coronavirus pandemic.
