The Roma community of Szolnok is waking up to a sad day, as today they finally say goodbye to the crownless king of authentic gypsy music, László Kozák Nagy, Count, who passed away on December 3. The nationally acclaimed and loved musician fell victim to the coronavirus at the age of 49, his family, friends, acquaintances and fans were shaken by his unexpected death. Little Count’s father says goodbye in accordance with Roma traditions, including being watched until the funeral in a tent set up in the family yard. Everyone gathered here to relive their memories.

On behalf of the family, Count Little announced in a statement posted in his community Thursday afternoon that his father would not be buried in private and that all health laws would be followed, but he asked everyone to respect the request of the family.

Preparations took place in the Szolnok cemetery for more than two weeks. In accordance with Roma traditions, the deceased is buried in a crypt and now a new one has been built as a resting place for Count the Great. Yesterday the final touches were made and the environment of the tomb was conditioned with work machines to achieve everything worthy of the event.

Lajos Galambos is also preparing for the sad day, so he told our colleague this Friday afternoon:
