– In recent months the interest of several of the best European teams has been heard. Was there a time when the Leipzig treaty became uncertain?
– We have been negotiating with the club for a long time, their interest is not new. After Dominik also spoke with the club leaders and the head coach, it became clear what he wanted. We have stressed many times that we are thinking in terms of coach and project, in Leipzig both are given as one of the best coaches in Europe and one of the most exciting challenges in Europe awaits us. What the team is showing on the field from week to week, I don’t think needs to be explained. I feel that Dominik fits perfectly with the philosophy of the club.

– Although the exact amount of the transfer has not been made public, it is certain that so much money has never been paid for Hungarian football.
– I cannot speak about the exact amount of the transfer, but I can safely say that in many respects this transfer is a record. It took a lot of patience and a lot of work to build this business. I am very proud of Dominik, his family and all of my staff.

– How much did the close professional relationship between Salzburg and CDR Leipzig matter in the business?
– Not much. Fortunately, we were in a position where we could choose between the options. Dominic and his father sat down, Domi all he said was “this is what I want”. From then on, my job was to gather the details. We will have an intense Christmas, after all, the Bundesliga will continue on January 2nd.

– It was possible to hear about the interests of various clubs, but with how many associations did you come to a personal meeting, possibly agreed on details?
– There were five associations with which I spoke very seriously about the transfer, but in recent weeks the focus was specifically on CDR Leipzig. I’m glad I found the club with which to start a new chapter in Dominik’s career.

– In terms of player development, what do you expect from the Leipzig years?
– Uninterrupted development. He knows the language, the culture, he played with some of his teammates in Salzburg or was very successful in the national team. Then everything is given to integrate and develop.

– Is Dominik Szoboszlai ready for the Bundesliga, one of the strongest leagues in Europe?
– I want. You are highly motivated in it, it is important that you face new challenges, these tasks carry you forward. It justifies being one of the best teams in Europe, it needs to be given time to integrate, but I am very optimistic about its future.

– In the eyes of the coach, what does football have to develop further to become one of the narrowest elite clubs in Europe in time?
“If you work in the same way that you have done so far, I am sure that you will be able to become a defining player at your new club in no time. For my part, I am very optimistic. Dominik’s character is extremely strong, plus everyone could see that great challenges only make him stronger and better. You must continue working with humility, just as you have done until now.

“Aren’t you afraid that many will attack your work and your decision not to agree with Real Madrid or Barcelona?”
“My work will be highly appreciated at the end of Dominik’s career, my judgment is now secondary. I’m about to get the most out of your career so that all the goals you’ve been consciously working on since childhood come true. If people are disappointed to see the transfer and think that he should play for Real Madrid right now, we have done something very well in recent years. Let us trust that we made a thoughtful decision, taking into account the interests of Dominik and Hungarian football.
