The UAE allowed vaccination against the new type of coronavirus for emergency use very early, among the first countries. The Chinese state product Sinopharm was already approved by the country for this purpose in September, and many foreign businessmen, mostly American, raised their heads.
After that, it came as no surprise that the country was the first to approve the Chinese vaccine for full use a few days ago. This preceded the United States, where it was decided on December 11 to approve a joint vaccine between Pfizer, home to Germany, and BioNTech, Germany, but only for emergency use.
Yes, but the Arab state has overtaken the producing country itself, including China, where vaccination is not yet fully licensed and only available for emergency use. So far, the vaccine has been tested in at least 125 countries and, based on an analysis of data from a total of 31,000 volunteers already vaccinated in the Emirates, it can prevent the disease with 86 percent effectiveness. According to the Emirati authority, no serious side effects have been reported.
The announcement came shortly after Morocco also voted in favor of the Chinese vaccine, and there are very ambitious plans to vaccinate 80 percent of the population there. However, Morocco is waiting for the vaccine to be authorized in China for its full use, that is, not only for emergency use.
In China, by the way, a total of three vaccines from two manufacturers, Sinovac and Sinopharm, are already licensed for emergency use, far ahead of the rest of the world. According to the South China Morning Post reported with these vaccines
more than 1 million people have already been vaccinated,
the data thus obtained is processed continuously. According to Bloomberg’s analysis, China is directly pursuing entire markets outside the EU and North America, even granting loans to some countries to buy Chinese vaccines.
Consequently, 223 million doses of Sinopharm and 166 million doses of Sinovac vaccine have been prescribed worldwide. Sinopharm’s main clients are Pakistan, Indonesia and several Middle Eastern countries (Emirates, Egypt, Bahrain and Jordan), while Sinovac’s main clients are currently Brazil, Indonesia and Turkey.
Shortly after the Emirates announcement, Bahrain also fully authorized the Sinopharm vaccine, after analyzing data from 7,700 vaccinated volunteers in the country. The most tangible benefit of the vaccine is that, unlike the Pfizer vaccine, it does not require transportation or storage at minus 70 degrees.
Because all the virus is present in the vaccine in a destroyed form, it is not limited to putting everything into the production of anti-spike proteins like most Western and Russian vaccines. This can also increase your chances against the ever-mutating coronavirus.
Therefore, Dubai and Bahrain are preparing to return to normal life. Developing flock immunity requires vaccination of 70 percent of the population, and Sinopharm easily delivers the amount to them, which, according to its own report, has already produced 500 million doses. Much of this will obviously remain within China, but it will also go in abundance to well-paid clients throughout the Arabian Gulf. Therefore, the next installment of the latest steam investment in Dubai may no longer seem so reckless.
Vaccination against Covid is not yet authorized in the European Union. The closest to us is in the UK, where the vaccine has already been vaccinated with Pfizer in the US and BioNTech in Germany, but right at the beginning of the campaign, two healthcare workers had severe allergic reactions. Furthermore, even before authorization, the manufacturer reported a total of four cases of facial nerve palsy, which the statisticians ultimately attributed to chance work, even though no such case occurred in the placebo group.
For the sake of interest, we mention that compared to its population, the majority of vaccines were ordered by Canada, where the amount of vaccine ordered by the state is more than four times the number of citizens. Canada is followed by the UK, where enough vaccines have been ordered to vaccinate the population three times, who knows why? The EU has also exposed itself to vaccinating 170% of the total population of the Member States with the amount of vaccines ordered so far.
