Topolya’s rookie team performed well throughout the season, the press marveling at TSC’s excellent results and flashy football. The band finished in fourth place with 59 points and fought for the role of the European Cup.

In the first round of the Europa League qualifying rounds, Petrocub of Moldova was beaten away by North Bačka, and in the second round, after a 6-6 draw, they lost to the Romanian FCSB on penalties. Before TSC, Szabó also led Novi Sad Proleter, Jagodina, Kula Hajduk and Sombor Radnicki.

As a player, Zoltán Szabó performed in Hajduk, Kula, Vojvodina, Novi Sad, where he played 114 games, and then also played in Partizan, Belgrade, with which he won two championship titles and a victory in the Yugoslav Cup. He also played for Suwon from South Korea, Fukuoka from Japan, and in Hungary he played for Zalaegerszeg, then he was a player for AEK from Cyprus, Apatin Mladost and Belcsény Cement.
