From pole, Max Verstappen could wait for the red lights to go out: he made his first outing in the Netherlands this year, alongside Valtteri Bottas lined up in the second starting block.
Recovering from a coronavirus infection, Lewis Hamilton started from 3rd place, with Lando Norris waiting for the red lights to go out.
THE BEGINNING
He got off to a great start at Verstappen, retaining first place, and there was no change of position behind him at the head. Bottas became second, Hamilton third and Norris fourth.
On lap 6, Albon passed Norris with a great maneuver in the first zone of DRS, who tried to attack again, but the Red Bull driver managed the 4th position very well. Two laps later, Stroll launched an attack on Kvyat, even ahead of the Russian, allowing him to continue the race in seventh place. Soon Gasly and came after Kvyat, he was also able to pass his teammate.
RACE POINT STOPS DURING SLOPE

The Safety Car left the track at the end of lap 13, Verstappen retained first place In front of Bottas, Hamilton, Albon, Ricciardo, Norris and the two Ferraris. Behind Leclerc, Sainz gave it a go, and the Spaniard edged out his teammate next year. Stroll was also early behind Leclerc, passing the Ferraris relatively easily, but Monaco regained ninth place in the next DRS zone.
On lap 17, Sainz also overtook Vettel’s Ferrari, so he was already racing in seventh place, however an investigation was launched against him after moving unreasonably slow in the box during his first wheel change. The case is investigated by the commissioners after the demolition.
On lap 19, Stroll again launched an attack on Leclerc, this time outscoring Ferrari, but was now able to maintain ninth position. A lap later, Gasly also beat his Monaco, knocking Leclerc out of the scoring zone. On lap 22, Ocon also overtook the young driver, whose car was already running out of medium-mix tires.
At the end of the lap, Leclerc was also summoned to the box, his car fitted with hard mix tires, so Ferrari had no plans for more stops for his Monaco.
VERSTAPPEN IS CONFIDENTLY LEADERSHIP
On lap 25, Verstappen led with a 5-second lead over Bottas, followed by Hamilton with another 2 seconds behind the Finn.
On lap 32, he is also ahead of Vettel after Gasly Stroll, making his driver AlphaTauri eighth.
On lap 40, Verstappen was already in the lead with an 8-second lead, and Daniel Ricciardo, who was in fifth place, arrived for the first time to change wheels. The Australian rider got on the medium compound tires and was back ahead of Gasly in seventh position.
VERSTAPPEN CLOSES THE SEASON WITH A SMALL VICTORY
The hair of the race wasn’t particularly exciting, with Verstappen winning the race all the way to winning the final race of the 2020 season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The Red Bull driver won by 16 seconds ahead of Bottas, while Lewis Hamilton was able to reach the bottom of the podium. Albon, Norris, Sainz, Ricciardo, Gasly, Ocon and Stroll also scored points.
Thanks to a great result, McLaren took third place in the constructors points race behind Mercedes and Red Bull.
The four times world champion Sebastian Vettel closed his last Ferrari race without a point: Behind German driver Charles Leclerc’s teammate, he finished 14th in Abu Dhabi.
