The Kozma István Hungarian Wrestling Academy Foundation bought the Csepel SC Foundation a few weeks ago with the undisputed goal of making the association with a long history shine again in its old light. After being able to take possession of the central sports complex of Béke tér, they faced dire conditions: the properties became completely desolate, in many places nature took over. The NSO TV team has also toured the sports complex; shocking pictures are shown below.

NS OPINION: SURPRISE

It was a lively experience to see the new videos of the dilapidated facilities of Csepel SC presented by Szilárd Németh at the press conference on Friday. However, if we dig into our memory a bit, it was not so long ago that most of the Hungarian sports complexes looked like this, or almost like this, as they escaped the wild capitalist real estate myths. Here, too, or here in Hungarian sports, only Adam Michnik’s statement is really true: “In communism, the worst is what follows.” After the regime change, no one cared what sports associations remained, youth sports. The change in attitude and the development of large-scale infrastructure that would come with the change of government in 2010, today all the sports complexes in the country would be very similar to that of Csepel.

“The aim is for the club, founded in 1912, to shine again in its old light. This umbrella club does not exist at the moment, as it was liquidated in the early 2000s. Some of the successor associations are active in various sports, and some of them still use the properties of Csepel SC ”. He told MTI on Friday László Süle, the curator of the István Kozma Hungarian Fighting Foundation (KIMBA), which bought the Csepel SC Foundation, and will be the president of the board of the old foundation. He added that the sports club is already setting up. He indicated that the foundation will take care of the infrastructure, while the club will take care of the organization of sports life and professional sports issues.

Discussions with clubs in Csepel claim to be progressing well, with two more meetings awaiting, and the feedback is encouraging. He emphasized that they would like to know these associations in the new Csepel SC, they are open to them, they are curious about their needs.

“Now the objective is to have a program that takes stock of professional developments and plans them with the participation of professionals. To this end, we are currently evaluating the infrastructure and the needs of the athletes ”. – said László Süle, emphasizing that sports traditions are significant in Csepel, with a population of more than 70,000, the former club gave the country 20 Olympic champions and the demand for sports and sports is still huge in the district.

The new management not only thinks about competitive sports, but also wants to focus on student and leisure sports, but above all, the conditions for sports must be created, the sports manager emphasized. However, the Béke tér site was completely destroyed, as shown during Friday’s tour.

Several buildings in the area are unusable, but the stadium is currently used by footballers, and the registration field is still used by athletes, as is the local shooting association, and rhythmic gymnasts are also trained there. László Süle said that not only will they have to deal with real estate, but they will also have to create normal conditions in other areas. Currently, no one on the site has a use contract and the area is not protected, anyone can walk.

The survey of the properties is already underway and László Süle believes they can finish it soon.

“The survey, I think, will be completed in a month or two, after which we will issue planning assignments and have concrete plans in a year, I’m sure.” – said the commissioner, who suggests that a building will soon be rehabilitated, improving conditions in the area.

The Béke tér site is located on 100 thousand square meters, the buildings are tens of thousands of square meters. According to Süle, there will also be work on the other two areas owned by the foundation, the rowing and canoeing site at Puente Gubacs, and the Dutch road kayak-canoe farm, although they are in significantly better condition.

The entire project may take ten years, however “If we start, we can quickly achieve spectacular results” – László Süle remarked.
