“The negotiations have been going on with great force in the plenary and in the background for hours and will last for hours. It is difficult to assess the situation precisely, but the Hungarian positions are strong, “Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Facebook Thursday night about the talks at the EU summit in Brussels.

So that men understand what I’m talking about, I have a six-handed ult in my hand with forty-two aces. This can be fixed. I think we will have a nice evening

– Orbán.

He also recently posted a video on Instagram talking about the need to help those in need now. “This is dictated by common sense, this is what I need to enforce now,” he said, adding, “I only have one thing left to do to get into the wolf pile.”

The Prime Minister said:

we are beyond all negotiations, we have had all preparatory discussions. We gather all our friends, we neutralize our opponents.

Viktor Orbán emphasized that his hope is that the end result will serve the interests of Hungary, Poland and the interests of the entire European Union. He added that his greatest hope is that the “common sense aspect” prevails.

Close, very close

“We are very close to reaching a good agreement for the unity of the European Union, today we fight not only for the victory of the union, but also for the victory of common sense,” said the prime minister in Brussels, before a meeting two days of EU leaders on Thursday.

The leaders of the EU member states in their two-day meeting, among other things

  • on the Union’s seven-year framework budget,
  • on the coronavirus recovery fund and the rule of law mechanism that will be linked to it,
  • and greater coordination on the epidemic,
  • on climate change,
  • they discuss security and external relations.

Diplomats in Brussels also consider some sort of agreement possible by the end of the EU summit that starts today, but not all consider it fateful that Hungary and Poland have already reached a preliminary and informal agreement with the incoming German presidency of the EU on Wednesday.
