Avoid the Pfizer Vaccine with Severe Allergies

The British National Health Service has urged the British to refrain from self-administering to people allergic to ingredients in the Pfizer vaccine, writes The Guardian. The warning was necessary because the vaccine caused an allergic reaction in two healthcare workers. Both workers had EpiPen for emergency treatment of anaphylactic shock or allergic reactions, so they probably knew they could have a serious reaction to certain medications.

This is because the allergic reaction was not due to a failure in the vaccine, the NHS did not properly select the workers who could receive the vaccine.

The British Agency for the Regulation of Medicines and Health Products advises that no one who has previously had a severe allergic reaction should self-administer the vaccine.

  2. any medicine
  3. and food.

Previously, Pfizer also revealed that allergic reactions can include skin rash, shortness of breath and swelling. It is not known how the two healthcare workers reacted to the vaccine, but their condition will improve rapidly after proper treatment.
