Hans christian wolters According to the German prosecutor, the public would come to the same conclusion Madeleine McCann in connection with a German man suspected of murder, registered as a sex offender, as if he had knowledge of the evidence in his possession.
Wolters spoke to the BBC when he did not have enough evidence to prosecute, but was very sure that Christian B. was the perpetrator.
If they looked at the evidence we had, they would probably come to the same conclusion as us, but I can’t reveal details because I don’t want the suspect to know what’s on our hands, for tactical reasons.
The prosecutor explained.
The suspect is still serving his prison sentence in Germany for sexual violence and drug trafficking. Christian B. was living in Portugal at the time of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance and committed at least three sexual assaults during his stay there, two of them against children.
Wolters hopes they can be prosecuted early next year.
I cannot promise anything, I cannot guarantee anything, but I am very confident because we have learned many things that do not allow us to draw other conclusions.
He said.
Madeleine McCann disappeared from a hotel in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007, where she was on vacation with her parents and two brothers shortly before her fourth birthday. Christian B. attacked an American woman at the same location in 2005 in 2015, 18 months after Madeleine’s disappearance.
