The Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office has indicted two elderly women for a crime against the electoral order, who allegedly helped a candidate from a party outside Parliament in an illegal way.

According to the indictment, in 2018, two 88-year-old women collected recommendations for a parliamentary candidate from a party outside Parliament. One woman falsely signed the testimonies on behalf of three people and the other on behalf of one person, and the testimonies submitted by one of them contained several false signatures, not of the name holder but of an unknown person, or the details of five people who were already deceased at the time of recommendation.

The prosecutor’s office wrote:

As a consequence of the guilty conduct, the parliamentary candidate, who was unaware of the actions of the accused, was also registered in March 2018, without which the 500 recommendations required by law would not have been possible.

The two women were charged by the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office before the Metropolitan Court for a crime against the electoral order.

The Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office proposed that the court impose a conditional prison sentence on the accused, without holding a trial.
