In the case of a veto on the European Union budget and the recovery fund, the governments of Hungary and Poland confirmed that

support each other, leaving no room for any intention to break their cooperation

– said Péter Szijjártó after the meeting of the foreign ministers of the EU member states in Brussels, according to the MTI report. The chancellor and the chancellor stressed that both countries have the right of veto.

He added that Hungary and Poland believe that further negotiations are needed to reach a consensus position. They see an opportunity to reach an agreement, as both countries are committed to the rule of law.

According to Szijjártó, there is a hypocritical debate on the mechanism to introduce, since those who want to violate the EU treaties by depriving Hungary of a right guaranteed by the treaties are talking about the importance of the rule of law. Things that have nothing to do with each other should not be linked, he referred to the EU budget, the financial rescue package and political conditionality.

The head of Hungarian diplomacy warned that the agreement would allow another influx of immigrants to Europe.

He noted that countries that do not adhere to this are being blamed for the lack of rule of law and are trying to curb the diversion of EU funds. It is contrary to the EU Treaty to make EU payments subject to such conditions – Péter Szijjártó reiterated the position of the Hungarian government.
