Wolff said the first days after the positive test were critical, but Hamilton, who may have contracted the virus last week, before the Bahrain Grand Prix, experienced relatively mild symptoms, when he jumped to Dubai for his family, who took the negative tests.
When asked if Hamilton was licensed in Dubai and was not frustrated that the Mercedes star driver couldn’t compete, Wolff replied that given how cautious the British were, it was unfortunate that he got infected:

Hamilton has to spend ten days in quarantine, so it is not yet known if he will be there at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix next week. Although Wolff said he would have plenty of time to return, he still doesn’t know when the pilot’s negative test will come.
“It would be a very positive development if you came back, but looking at the situation, there were many athletes who contracted the virus and although they no longer had symptoms, they tested positive and were active infectious. This must be investigated by the FIA. “
Hamilton gave a positive test just as he could sit down with Wolff to negotiate his next contract with Mercedes, as the current one expires at the end of the year. When asked by Motorsport.com how much Hamilton’s disease is slowing down the process, Wolff said they won’t talk about it until he recovers:
