Almost 80 different explosive devices, presumably from a World War II shooting range, were found in Buda, the 1st Army Fire and Warship Regiment of the Hungarian Armed Forces announced on its Facebook page on Friday.

Special projectiles were recently found during earthworks in XII. Csörsz street district.

Soldiers identified 10.5-centimeter-diameter German shrapnel grenades, Hungarian 10-centimeter cumulative grenades and cumulative grenades, and 10.5-centimeter-diameter destroyer grenades, also Hungarian-made, at the scene. Several Spengpatrone Z-type cannon barrel detonators loaded for 10.5 cm guns have been found in the area. The latter could be used by combatant soldiers to destroy their own artillery equipment in case they had to leave their firing point in no time.

The explosives were in transportable condition, so the soldiers took them to the central collection point of the Hungarian Armed Forces for subsequent destruction. It was not necessary to impose civil restrictions during the firefighting operation.
