Coronavirus: the second wave, the second closure

Later than expected by many, but in mid-November, the Hungarian government also decided to try to curb the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic by introducing restrictions. By Friday, another 6,212 people were diagnosed with the coronavirus infection, increasing the number of infected people identified in Hungary to 238,056, the operational staff write.

Most of the deaths were 189 elderly and chronic patients, bringing the number of deaths to 5,513. In one day, the number of deaths has never risen, the worst figure published on December 3, when 182 people died from Covid-19 in one day.

7812 coronavirus patients are being hospitalized, 119 more than those reported yesterday, 639 with ventilators, 24 less since the last data release.

On Thursday, 18,479 coronavirus tests were carried out (7,565 less than yesterday), of which 33.61 percent were positive. This is far from the level recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). According to the WHO, a country conducts enough screening tests if it has a true picture of the spread of the epidemic if no more than 5 percent of them test positive.

Currently, the operational court ordered special breaks in 434 kindergartens for one group, 212 kindergartens and 133 elementary schools for the whole institution, and one or two classes in 678 elementary schools and digital curricula for the whole institution in 66 elementary schools .
